Projects are logical containers for managing compute, storage and network resources within a silo. Users in a silo can be assigned to access one or more projects.
Here are the types of resources owned and managed within a project:
Virtual machine instances
Snapshots
Disks
Images
VPCs and subnets
Managing projects
The ability to create projects is restricted to users with the silo admin role.
When creating a project, the only required attribute is the project name. It must meet the following requirements:
is unique within the silo
starts with a letter
contains only lower-case letters, numbers, and dashes
Each project comes with a default VPC and subnet. To delete a project, ensure these default resources, as well as any other resources within the project are removed first.
The project_create request accepts an optional defaults field that controls whether the default VPC and its default subnet are created. Omitting the field creates both. Passing an empty object creates neither, which lets automation avoid deleting defaults it does not use.
